This abstract but elegant bag face is most likely the work of a Sandjabi Kurdish weaver from Northwest Persia. Using saturated vivid color and soft supple wool, a stylized flowerpot, complete with blooming foliage, is drawn against a deep indigo ground. Large blossoms and clusters of smaller buds illuminate against the dark field as complementary medium blue and ochre vine-scroll borders frame the piece.
