Woven with soft and lustrous Anatolian wool, this Turkish prayer rug combines drawing typically associated with Ladik pieces with a distinct Konya village aesthetic. In the bottom red ground panel, stylized tulips are drawn, while a single ewer appears in the upper portion, surrounded by stylized quartered rosettes (of a type seen throughout central Anatolia). The piece is dated 1275, approximately correlating with the Western year 1853. Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Swan.
