This Turkish yastik or pillow was woven in southwestern Anatolia in the vicinity of Dazkiri near Afyon. Green ground pieces from any region are rare, and the color of this piece is particularly pleasing. Rows of multiple layered blossoms are drawn in aubergine and rose and highlighted with blue and gold. The contours of these flowers are deceptively geometric, and are reminiscent of an allover tessellated tile design. Small cartouches are formed within the negative space. 1.
