The square-shaped proportions of this room-size Serapi carpet allows for a large, rounded central medallion that is more akin to a mandala floating on an empty ivory ground than the standard elongated Persian type. Large palmettes and foliage are traced throughout the rug, creating clearly articulated large-scale structures in the classic Heriz style. The color is superb, balancing translucent, modulated aquamarine-blue with complementary contrasting roses and ochre.
