DESCRIPTION:

Ikat is a textile technique in which the warp threads are painted with a design on the loom before the piece is woven. It is particularly popular in Central Asia. This Uzbek silk ikat panel draws alternating bands in which columns of abstract flowering plants are drawn. Thin flatwoven decorative bands are attached to the sides.
