This exceptional Afshar sumak horse cover draws elegant rounded ‘boteh’ paisleys within a lattice of foliage. A dramatic dark Afshar palette is supplemented with copious highlights in white cotton, creating luminous contrast. The drawing is spectacular, with each floral element fully articulated. There is a pleasant organic flow throughout the system of borders, and the left side panel, where open rows of parading animals are interspersed with geometric rosettes, is particularly interesting. In this horse cover, we see the full spectrum of Afshar taste, from tribal to ultra refinement.
