Anatolian kilim

In the late 20th century, several westerners took it upon themselves to attempt to revive the use of natural dyes. In this case, wool was brought to villages and the weavers were shown designs from the 19th century and earlier. This rug is a very successful result, capturing the effect of the very desirable “negative space” so revered by collectors.
