Bakhtiari carpet

Bakhtiari carpets from west-central Persia frequently make use of fields with colorful repeating boxes containing flowering plants. This piece, however, transcends the genre. Perhaps as an homage to classical carpets of the sixteenth century, an array of trees and shrubs are drawn in full bloom within diamond-shaped compartments in a multiplicity of colors. The floral border is equally exceptional and complimentary, making use of a highly evocative array of blossoming trees.
