Baluch Prayer Rug

This elegant Baluch prayer rug combines precise drawing with fine detailing and weave. A classic Baluchi tree of life is drawn against a light camel ground punctuated by fine blossoming branches emanating from a striped central trunk. The border system is delicate and varied with bands of palmettes flanking a classic vine-scroll border on an ochre ground. Cochineal red, a sign of more luxurious Baluch weavings, is used along with madder derived ochre and aubergine throughout.
