A large, allover lattice design is drawn in gold, cream and red against the deep indigo field of this Persian Bibibkabad carpet. Oscillating ribbons of foliage, alternating with palmettes, form the border. The red ground of the border and its open drawing contrasts nicely with the more densly decorated indigo ground field.
