Ikat is a textile technique in which the warp threads are painted with a design on the loom before the piece is woven. It is particularly popular in Central Asia. This Uzbek silk ikat panel draws alternating bands of abstract flowering plants. Thin flat woven decorative bands are attached to the sides.
