Eagle Karabagh

A column of three ‘eagle medallions’, named for their evocation of the plumage of stretched eagle wings, are traced against the brick madder red ground in this classic Karabagh rug. Small iconic rams drawn in the manner of Caucasian folk weaving are drawn throughout the field. A single row of latch-hook devices top of f the field add a pleasing asymmetry and reinforce a distinctly village aesthetic. The finely drawn ‘crab border’ design may be seen as heightening the prominent star-burst theme of the field.
