This classic Caucasian rug was woven in the Karabagh region of the south Caucasus. Two large ‘eagle medallions’, named for their evocation of the plumage of stretched eagle wings, are drawn in vivid color with highlights in white against a madder red ground. The wool pile is lush and beautiful.
