Fereghan

This palace-sized Feraghan carpet from central Persia draws an over-all field in the Herati pattern. Networks of vegetal fronds emanate from central rosettes, all painted in a rainbow of jewel-tones against a deep indigo ground. The smaller-scale of design is at once intricate and vast. Of particular merit is the copious use of sea-green as detailing throughout the field and as the ground of the delicate corner-pieces and narrow main border.
