Fereghan

Using a veritable rainbow of colors, a classic “Herati” design is drawn delicately in small scale against the indigo ground of this Central Persian Fereghan carpet. With just the right hint of whites, rose-colored palmettes and various colorful rosettes form a veritable ocean of shimmering ornament. The resulting contrast is masterful. The piece is framed by several narrow borders, including a classic Fereghan pistachio green main border drawn with stylized Persian palmettes.
