Fereghan rug

A classic diamond medallion floats in the center of this central Persian Fereghan rug. Two stylized flowering trees flank the medallion on top and bottom as identical clover-topped branches outline both the medallion and contour of the field. The ivory ground is more complicated then what may first be perceived. Using a subtle tone on tone scheme of ivory and cream a delicate quilt-like pattern is rendered. The piece is framed by a simple and elegant border system and floral indigo corner-pieces.
