Fereghan carpet

This over-sized Fereghan carpet combines a classic Persian medallion format with a bouquet of floral ornamentation derived from the repertoire of eighteenth-century Persian garden carpets. The proportions are long and narrow. The contrast of the reds of the main border, corner-pieces and medallion with the indigo of the field gives a depth and richness to the composition. Complementing the stems and foliage of the flowers and blossoms is a central pistachio-colored inner medallion outlined in green.
