Ladik Prayer rug

This classic Ladik prayer rug from central Anatolia draws a bold mihrab accented by rams’ horn motif against a modulated madder-red ground. An assortment of classic Anatolian geometric elements float spaciously within the indigo blue spandrels as a more sparse pairing of abstracted floral buds are drawn within the field. The upper registry elegantly draws elongated flowers rooted in a crenelated ‘etek’ panel.
