Luri rug

The Luri are some of the most accomplished weavers of South Persia, a region renowned for its quality of tribal weavings. This colorful piece paints thin stripes in the manner of Persian textiles from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A sense of movement is provided by the alternation in direction of small paisley-like motifs drawn throughout the stripes. Soft lustrous wool compliments and enhances the vibrancy of color.
