A masterpiece of Persian weaving from the post-classical period, this dynamic quintessentially eighteenth-century repeat design with willows, cypresses, and a host of blossoming trees is fantastically drawn in this majestic Northwest Persian piece. Over the course of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries this design became popularized across Persia, and many simplifications and varied renditions were used by village, tribal, and urban weavers, alike. Here the pattern is complete and articulated with the original and full conception of the design using perfect jewel-like color.
