Shirvan Prayer rug

This Shirvan prayer rug was woven in the south-east Caucasus. The natural vegetal colors used are diverse and richly saturated. The ivory field classically showcases the variety of floral elements arranged within an over-all lattice and is pleasantly framed by a rose-colored border. Of particular interest is the way in which the ornament and layout of the field are pleasantly magnified in the sections of the hand-panels.
