From the estate of William Coury. This fine Persian Tabriz silk prayer rug is woven in soft tones of ivory and blues with highlights in brick red. Modulated color, or abrash, is used to accentuate the central elements of drawing and the spandrels. The traditional columns, spandrels and hanging candelabra are drawn in the neoclassical style of the late nineteenth century while a row of traditional Persian palmettes makes up the main border.
Small slit in corner. Large stain.
