This crisp Sumak runner was woven in the villages of the southern Caucasus about one-hundred twenty-five years ago. A column of rams-horn traced diamond medallions is drawn on a yellow ground. While yellow ground Sumaks are certainly known, they are more rare than the red or blue varieties. The composition is balanced by several layers of smaller and larger borders, the inner most using a tile mosaic pattern and the outer with what may be juxtaposed abstracted birds.
