Tabriz rug

Tabriz carpets have come almost to define antique Persian rugs in the minds of many. This piece combines a refinement of design with a sophistication of drawing and subtle use of color. The classic central medallion is flanked by elongated corner-pieces rendering a cartouche-shaped golden field reminiscent of forms found in earlier classical Persian types of the sixteenth century. Unlike so many pieces labeled ‘antique Tabriz’ available on the market today, this piece has not been artificially faded or ‘antique washed’. This is the real deal.
