Tabriz rugs of the turn of the century were some of the most refined and elegant Persian pieces woven at that time. This fine Tabriz rug does not disappoint. Using a layered field arrangement with a classic Persian central medallion within a terracotta cartouche, the piece is flanked by corner-pieces repeating in quarters the contours and color of the central medallion. The field and border are filled with lush floral imagery. In recent years the market has been inundated with early and mid 20th century Tabriz weavings that have been harshly color stripped with acid to approximate the look of antique piece.
