Verneh flatweave

With its alternation of boxes and latch-hook diamonds highlighted by alternating diagonal rows of color on an ivory ground, this flat-woven Anatolian Verneh achieves an “eye-dazzling” effect. Of particular importance to this tessellated composition is the manifestation and use of negative space to form complementary repeating patterns. Although the drawing is precise, the overall composition is heightened and made richer by small individualizing accents throughout.
