This Afshar salt bag draws an allover design of red cruciform elements within a golden lattice. It is woven entirely in weft float brocade. This flat weave technique is quite popular among the Afshar and other tribal weavers across eastern Persia. The design is crisp, clear, and highly graphic. The small rows of geometric ornament drawn across the neck of the salt bag are rendered with the same technique.
