With a classic design type, this rug comes from northeast Iran. Known as a ‘mina khani’ design, it features stylized flower heads with smaller flowers in white arranged on an indigo blue field. The border is exceptionally nice, a type seen used not only among Baluch weavers but sometimes in Caucasian rugs too. Unusually complete with full kilim or flat woven ends and original selvedges, one might imagine it has been well cared for and may have been treasured by both the weaver and subsequent owners.
Condition Report
Oxidized browns throughout resulting in some exposed foundation. Original selvedges and end finishes.
