Dragon Sumak rug

Using the flat woven sumac technique, this Caucasian carpet draws a design derived from the ‘dragon carpets’ of the 17th century. Highly stylized palmettes form a vertical column through the center of the field. These palmettes serve as spokes for a network of expansive stylized foliage evoking zoomorphic imagery. A small, simple geometric border heightens the sense of movement and drama.
