Fereghan long rug

Using a delicate rendering of the repeat ‘Herati’ pattern, this Fereghan carpet from central Persia paints an elegant lattice rendering of rosettes, palmettes and foliage in a diverse array of jewel-like tones. Saturated colors including aubergine, gold and rose shine against a deep indigo ground, which is punctuated by restrained and deliberate highlights of white. The main border draws miniature classical Persian palmettes linked and alternating in color against a band of pistachio green. This rug is an excellent example of a classic Fereghan type.
