Woven in central Persia, this elegant oversized Fereghan Sarouk draws a starburst medallion with an ivory center floating against a deep indigo ground. Layered networks of blossoming vine-scroll expand throughout the field, medallion, and matching corner pieces, while the border draws a classic rendition of linked alternating palmettes. The rich and autumnal color of this rug includes traditional Fereghan tones such as pistachio green and rose madder. Finally, the piece is inscribed at the top with a maker’s mark.
