Fereghan Sarouk carpet

This exceptional over-sized Fereghan Sarouk carpet is infused with a timeless elegance. Modeled on classical Persian prototypes of the 16th and 17th centuries, an elongated lobed diamond-shaped medallion floats against a madder-red field surrounded by sinuous tendrils of blossoming vine-scroll. Four corner-pieces, themselves derived from a related Persian medallion type, flank the central field. Color is subtle but powerful contrasting both muted and saturated tones and complementary contrasting red and green accents.
