Seichor Kuba rug

This colorful Kuba draws a repeat field of stylized flowers and blossoms of the Zeichur type. Vibrant colors such as rose, red and gold, as well as green foliage, are amplified against a deep brown ground. While the floral field repeats, it is anything but monotonous–or even regular. With an almost musical approach to spacing and composition, some areas are more compact and others more open. Some floral elements and smaller buds are even improvised, appearing just once within the repertoire. While the oscillating blue and white outer and inner border are thoroughly Zeichur, the central border, which draws a modulated green tracery against a rose-madder ground, is more individuated to this piece.
