Woven near the southwestern shore of the Caspian Sea, this Shirvan kilim combines bold repeat geometry with saturated natural color. Rows of latch hook diamonds, drawn within repeating ten-sided elements, alternate with narrower bands of triangles and geometric ribbons. White is expertly balanced with tones of blue and red, creating a sense of depth and contrast.
Exhibited in Bosporus to Samarkand Exhibitiion #8 The Textile Museum.
